Iñigo Ormazabal, resident pharmacist in Alcorcón Foundation University Hospital visited for four weeks in 2014. A final year pharmacy resident from this institution in Madrid visits us each year to observe how we practice medicines optimisation on a day to day basis. He was impressed by the amount of time spent on ‘face to face’ patient contact and how pharmacy is an integral part of the ward multidisciplinary team. Elena Álvaro (not in picture) arrived with us in February 2016 and plans to spend one of her four weeks learning more about antimicrobial stewardship and the enabling technology used.
