A team of MOIC and Digitalis met with a delegation from the Czech Ministry of Health in Prague on February 8. The Czech team was led by Dr Alena Tomaskova, Director of the Department of Pharmacy at the Ministry. The meeting took place in the frame of an EU sponsored project to foster twinning between reference sites of the European Innovation Platform on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA).
The MOIC team and partner Digitalis introduced the concept of medicines optimisation in general and demonstrated the clinical procurement system STEPSelect. This system was co-developed in Northern Ireland and is widely used in this part of the U.K. for the selection and procurement of medicines and medical devices. The Czech Ministry would welcome a pilot with STEPSelect and is looking forward to collaborate with their Northern Irish partners.
