MOIC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Ulster University

February 4, 2026

We’re excited to share that MOIC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ulster University. This MOU marks a key step in deepening our longstanding collaboration – uniting MOIC’s dedication to medicines optimisation with the university’s expertise in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.

We were delighted to sign the MOU, represented by our Director Prof Michael Scott MBE alongside Ulster University’s Peter Devine (Deputy Director of Research & Innovation). Also present were Prof Paul McCarron (Head, School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences), Dr Aaron Courtenay and Dr Ahmed Abuelhana (Co-Directors, Centre for International Health Innovation and Partnerships), our Deputy Director Glenda Fleming, Clinical Lead Anita Hogg, and Chief Pharmaceutical Officer Prof Catherine Harrison—highlighting the strategic importance for Northern Ireland.

This agreement recognises Ulster as a delivery-focused academic partner with strengths in applied/translational research, policy-practice links, and implementation/evaluation expertise—perfectly aligned with our Department of Health-commissioned role to deliver measurable impact for patients, services, and policy.

Facilitated by the Centre for International Health Innovation and Partnerships and rooted in the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, this partnership strengthens our shared commitment to translating evidence into real-world medicines optimisation and better patient care in Northern Ireland and beyond.
