MOIC is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the College of Health and Medical Sciences (CHMS) at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards advancing medicines optimisation practices in both Northern Ireland and Ethiopia through collaborative projects, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
Under the MOU, both parties have committed to establishing open channels of communication to identify and pursue joint opportunities in medicines optimisation. These include responding to funding calls, facilitating knowledge transfer and exchange, joint dissemination activities and engaging key stakeholders.
MOIC and CHMS will work together to facilitate staff collaboration in pursuing shared objectives, with each organisation taking proactive steps to initiate discussions on emerging opportunities in the field.
This partnership aligns closely with Haramaya University’s mission “to produce competent Health and Medical Science Graduates through quality education, undertake academically rigorous and socially meaningful cutting-edge research, and provide community service in the region and country” and its vision to “RISE to Excellence: Envisioning to be a World Class Health Research, Education, and Service Center by 2045.”
The partnership also aligns with MOIC’s key theme to build a culture of Partnership and Collaboration.
Mike Scott, Director MOIC commented “This MOU represents a powerful opportunity to share best practice in medicines optimisation and build sustainable clinical pharmacy capacity in Ethiopia.”
“Partnering with MOIC aligns perfectly with our commitment to excellence in health education, research and service,” added Ammas Siraj Mohammed, lecturer and researcher in clinical pharmacy at Haramaya University in Ethiopia. “This collaboration will strengthen our ability to deliver high-impact, evidence-based healthcare improvements.”
